November 2016: Toni Preckwinkle

In one of those show-must-go-on moments, Mick and I hosted a First Tuesdays on the night of game six of the World Series.

That’s the game six that featured the Cubs in a win-or-go-home showdown against Cleveland.

We figured five people would show–tops.

But a big crowd turned out to see Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, one of the smartest and most popular politicians in Chicago.

To our fellow political geeks, Mick & I say: Thanks for your support!

On hand to capture the moment was Chris Buddy, the world’s greatest videographer, who wasn’t really sacrificing anything cause he’s a Yankees fan.

By the way, in the video you will hear Mick and Toni refer to a column in which I called Toni “utterly humorless.” Here’s the link.

I have to give Toni credit–she got off a few good ones in the show. Obviously, she has a future in standup if this political thing doesn’t work out.

It was a great show–ending just in time for everyone to see Addison Russell hit a grand slam homer. Even the Sox fans in the crowd were happy to see that–well, some of them, anyway.

There will be no show in December. So happy holidays, everybody. See you on January 3, 2017!
